This last rhythm is sometimes known as the ten-to-ten rhythm, because that is how it sounds, played on the ride cymbal of a drum-kit. If you hear this rhythm or a variation of it, you know you're dealing with a swing feel.

Repeat all these exercises regularly in the early stages at different tempos: slow (quarter note = 60-80), medium (quarter note = 80-140) and fast, usually known as "up" tempo (quarter note = at least 140).
